The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) successfully hosted the Press Briefing Session for Mektronics Group to present the Hult Prize at ULAB 2024/2025, co-sponsored by OMERA LPG and Jitben, and powered by Begum's Catering.
The event occurred at ULAB's Dhanmondi campus, drawing the presence of esteemed media partners eager to gain insights into this year's competition, its objectives, and the newly introduced incentives for participants.
This year's Campus Director, Rahat Mahmud, Deputy Director, Salman Al Farsy and PR and Content Writing Head, Mariam Mardia, led the session. They highlighted key aspects of this edition, with the most notable announcement being the introduction of a prize pool of 1 lakh BDT for the top three winners—providing them with initial funding to kickstart their business ventures. The speakers further emphasised that this year's Hult Prize at ULAB is not just a competition but the beginning of a new initiative—a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project. Through this effort, the competition aims to nurture aspiring entrepreneurs and inspire sustainable and socially responsible business practices, encouraging participants to integrate ethical and impactful solutions into their ventures.
Following the briefing, a Q&A session allowed media representatives to delve deeper into various aspects of the competition. The speakers emphasised that all business proposals must align with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and uphold strong ethical values. They also stressed that the prize pool motivates participants to develop sustainable and impactful business solutions that contribute positively to society.
The competition has already gained significant momentum, with an enthusiastic response in the first phase. Numerous teams submitted their abstracts, which the judges meticulously evaluated. From these, the top 33 teams have been shortlisted for the next rounds:
