LGED launches four training programs, including CRLIC initiative
On Sunday, 8 September, the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) inaugurated four training programs, including one focused on the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Center (CRLIC), at its headquarters.
The programs, which include a five-day TOT course on Total Station, a four-day course on Financial Management, a five-day course on Quality Control, a five-day course on Rapid Climate Impact Assessment, and a three-day course on Contract Management and Monitoring including e-CMS, were officially launched by Gopal Krishna Devnath, additional chief engineer of LGED.
Speaking at the inauguration, Gopal Krishna Devnath emphasised the importance of participants' focused engagement in the training. He highlighted the crucial role of everyone involved in ensuring the efficient utilisation of government time and resources. Devnath also urged participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge to design and implement climate-resilient infrastructure such as rural roads, bridges, culverts, multi-purpose disaster shelters, school buildings, and other facilities to mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change. Furthermore, he called for everyone's contribution to improving the working environment and safety of women in the workplace.
Other attendees at the event included Additional Chief Engineer Abdur Rashid Mia, Additional Chief Engineer and Project Director of the Program for Supporting Rural Bridges Anwar Hossain, Additional Chief Engineer and Director of CRLIC Abdul Hakim, and various other officials and consultants. The program was moderated by Md. Shafiqul Islam, Executive Engineer of the LGED Training Unit.
