Minhaz Mannan Emon to join DSE board as shareholder director
The 63rd annual general meeting of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) will take place on December 19, 2024.
To fill a vacant position on the DSE Board of Directors, the board formed a three-member election commission during its 1077th meeting on October 16, 2024. The commission is chaired by retired Justice Md. Abdus Samad (former judge of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court), with shareholder representatives Md. Rafiqul Islam and Dewan Azizur Rahman as the other two members.
On October 28, 2024, the election commission announced the schedule for the election of a shareholder director. According to the schedule, the nomination papers were to be submitted between November 12 and November 17, 2024. During this period, only Minhaz Mannan Emon, the shareholder representative of BLI Securities Limited, submitted a nomination.
Today, November 19, 2024, the election commission reviewed the nomination and declared Minhaz Mannan Emon eligible for the position.
Minhaz Mannan Emon has been involved in the capital market for over 35 years, gaining extensive experience in issue management and underwriting for various companies. A graduate of Faujdarhat Cadet College, he completed his SSC and HSC there before earning a master's degree in Management from the University of Dhaka. He also successfully completed a four-year Chartered Accountancy course from Rahman Rahman Huq & Co.
BLI Securities Limited, which became a DSE member in 2001, has been represented by Minhaz Mannan Emon as its managing director since 2003. Additionally, he is the founder director of Tomorrowland Ltd. and Greenwork Ltd. He also owns and manages Platinum Securities Ltd., a corporate member of the Chittagong Stock Exchange.
Emon first served as a DSE director from March 2012 to June 2014 and was re-elected in March 2018, serving until September 2020.
