Titas Gas conducts crackdown on illegal gas connections
Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited has carried out a series of operations in several areas under its jurisdiction, including Kaliganj, Bharalia, Nimtala, Kholamura, South Keraniganj, Central Keraniganj, and Mirerbag Bazar Road's Ikuria area, led by an Executive Magistrate. Over the past few days, the crackdown has resulted in the disconnection of a significant number of illegal gas lines, along with the imposition of fines on individuals involved in unauthorized gas connections.
As part of the campaign to uproot illegal gas connections, Titas Gas conducted an operation on 19 September 2024, targeting illegal connections in Konabari, Chandra, Sonargaon, Nayapaltan, Savar, Ashulia, and Kaliganj in Keraniganj. During the operation, 877 illegal residential connections, 1 illegal commercial connection, and 2 unauthorized industrial connections were suspended. Additionally, approximately 5 kilometers of illegal gas pipelines were dismantled. The operation is expected to save approximately 2,53,008 cubic feet of gas per day, with an estimated monthly savings of BDT 1.675 million.
Titas Gas is committed to continuing these operations to curb illegal gas usage and ensure proper distribution of resources.
