Titas Gas ongoing crackdown removes 7,427 illegal connections in service areas
The drive to identify and disconnect illegal gas connections in Titas Gas-serviced regions is underway. Spearheaded by executive magistrates and supported by Titas Gas personnel, the operation focuses on illegal gas usage across multiple locations, including Keraniganj, Kamrangir Char, Fatulla, Chashara, Siddhirganj, Araihazar, Narayanganj, Savar, Kaliakoir, Chandra, Joydebpur, Gazipur, Dhanmondi, Mirpur, Gulshan, Ashulia, Savar, Bhaluka, Mymensingh, and Meghnaghat.
On November 12, 2024, the authorities conducted a raid in Keraniganj, Narayanganj, and Gazipur, resulting in the disconnection of six industrial, five commercial, and 51 residential gas connections. Since the beginning of the crackdown in September 2024, a total of 103 industrial, 61 commercial, and 7,263 residential illegal gas connections—amounting to 7,427 disconnections—have been removed.
These disconnections have conserved approximately 56,300 cubic meters of gas daily, saving an estimated 2.606 million BDT. Additionally, 39 kilometers of illegal pipeline (DOCR) have been recovered as part of the operation.
