Stocks edge down amid low turnover

Equity indices of the country's two main bourses have toppled in the first one-and-half-hour of trading, as session began today, in view of the investors' profit booking efforts.
Subsequently, turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor receded 40 percent to Tk258.98 crore till 11:30 am.
During the early session, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 24.58 points – or 0.51 percent - to reach at 4,770.
The shariah index DSES lost 4.10 points to settle at 1,103, and the blue-chip index DS30 fell by 7.5 points to stand at 1,643.
Out of the 352 issues traded in the same time frame, 117 company's share prices advanced, 188 declined, and 47 remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) lost 57.69 points to settle at 13,607.
