Agricultural import, export certificates will be available online
The automation of certification is expected to lessen the problems of the traders and save time as well
Certificate of Plant Quarantine Centre, which is required for import and export of agricultural products, will be available online from now onwards, which is expected to lessen the problems of the traders and save time as well.
This automation process includes all activities related to Import Permit Certificate, Phytosanitary Certificate, Release Order Certificate, Anchorage Certificate for agricultural products.
Agriculture Minister Md Abdur Razzak virtually inaugurated the automation programme of the Plant Quarantine Wing under the Department of Agricultural Extension on Monday from the conference room of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The customer will be able to apply for and collect the certificates online. On the other hand, a secure database will ensure transparency and security of these certificates. Moreover, it will be easier to verify the authenticity of the certificate using the specific number of a certificate.
As the chief guest of the event, the agriculture minister said the acceptance of the certificate would reduce the suffering and ensure transparency in the whole process. Revenue evasion will stop too.
At present, there are about 4,000 importers and exporters in 30 departments under the Department of Agricultural Extension who are directly or indirectly involved in the import and export of goods. After this automation process, no more certification will be carried out manually.
At the same time, due to the introduction of the call centre, any kind of problem of the customer will be solved easily.
