Dutch entrepreneurs keen to invest in Bangladesh
Dutch entrepreneurs and innovators have expressed their interest in further involvement in the agriculture and light engineering sectors of Bangladesh, after being briefed over the opportunities through a virtual investment summit.
Bangladesh Embassy in the Netherlands, organized the summit on 8 and 9 December in cooperation with the Dutch Government, said a press release.
During the first session, an analytical report was presented regarding the possibilities of Dutch investment in the agriculture and food sectors of Bangladesh.

With five specialists participating from both countries, the session explored how Dutch entrepreneurs, innovators and investors may be more closely involved in the Bangladeshi sectors.
The speakers said Dutch advanced technology and innovation could help improve different areas of the Bangladeshi agriculture sector, particularly poultry, dairy and fisheries.
Dutch investors can be engaged more closely in different issues, like supplying high quality and climate change resistant crops seeds, reduction of post-harvest losses, ensuring quality of animal feed, maintaining soil fertility, etc.
The Dutch participants hinted at the cooperation of Dutch institutions in transferring artificial intelligence and mechanisms related to smart farming to Bangladesh, in order to mechanize the agriculture sector of Bangladesh and address future challenges.
During the second session, speakers highlighted how potential Dutch entrepreneurs, inventors and investors could be more closely involved in the sector.
Dutch small and medium enterprises can be easily involved in the development of more than 40,000 light engineering enterprises growing across Bangladesh, the speakers opined.
In order to meet the growing demands of the middle class, Dutch entrepreneurs can also expand their business by joining hands with local entrepreneurs in different fields, like electric and electronics, electric cars, bicycles.
Speakers also shed light on other investment opportunities for Dutch investors in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the Netherlands M Riaz Hamidullah expressed optimism that the investment summit will create new opportunities for trade between the private sectors of both countries.
Bangladesh's leading investment development institutions and leading business organizations have joined in the initiative.
