Khatunganj onion traders go on strike in protest of raid

The onion traders of Chattogram's Khatunganj today have kept the shutters of their warehouses closed in protest of a mobile court raid.

After the onion price hike in India, the price of onion in Bangladesh also rose. In Khatunganj, the wholesale price of onion rose from Tk 42 to 43 per kg last Saturday.
After that, two executive magistrates of Chattogram district administration conducted a mobile court in Khatunganj on Sunday afternoon to keep the price of onion stable, where around ten wholesalers were fined.
After the raid, onions were sold at Tk 35 to 36 per kg from yesterday afternoon.
