REHAB fair starts in Ctg with business target of Tk450 crore
The fair is at Chattogram’s Radisson Blu Hotel and will continue from February 6 to 9
The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) is holding a four-day real estate fair in Chattogram.
The fair, inaugurated on Thursday at the port city's Radisson Blu hotel, has 55 organisations taking part with 73 stalls.
The trade fair will continue from February 6 to 9.
Chattogram City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin attended the fair on Thursday as the chief guest while Chattogram Development Authority chairman Zahirul Alam Dubash was a special guest.
Alamgir Shamsul Alamin, President of REHAB, chaired the inauguration programme.
In his speech Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said, "REHAB has played an indisputable role in solving the country's housing problems. It will have to play a bigger role in the future to help the middle-class and low income families get better housing."
Shamsul Alamin said, "We must make sure that everyone gets good housing in order become a developed country. Yet, with the steep price of land, it becomes difficult to make products for the middle-class."
"We will be able to provide housing for the poor and middle class if the government allocates land for it," he said, adding that the flat registration fee should be reduced by four percent.
The majority of the stalls at the fair were giving special discounts and gifts to buyers.
Mizanur Rahman, assistant manager of ANZ properties, said they are gifting kitchen cabinets to people who book flats with them at the fair.
Saifuddin Mahmud Bappi, manager of Lucent Development Ltd, said, "We have discounts on various projects, along with Tk50-100 per sq. ft. off on every flat booking."
Jumairah Holdings Ltd were giving away air-conditioners along with kitchen cabinets for on-spot bookings.
Abdul Qaium Chowdhury, the Chattogram regional head of REHAB said, "last year we did business worth Tk320 crore. This year we hope to achieve a target of Tk450 crore."
