DBCCI to host seminar on inclusive business Wednesday
The discussion will focus on potential and emerging inclusive business options to improve the livelihoods of low-income groups for social impact
The Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DBCCI) is organising a seminar at a city hotel in the capital for Wednesday, to facilitate knowledge-based discussions and collaboration among business entities, investors and innovators on inclusive business.
The discussion titled "Investment on Inclusive Business" is jointly supported by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation in Bangladesh and the ICCO Cooperation. The Business Standard is the media partner of the event.
Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, is expected to attend the seminar as the chief guest, while Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh Harry Verweij will be present as the guest of honour.
Sheikh Fazle Fahim, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, will attend the programme as its special guest.
The discussion will focus on potential and emerging inclusive business options to improve the: health, food, nutrition, energy, water, and sanitation of low-income groups for social impact.
On Thursday, SNV and DBCCI will also host the fourth international conference on inclusive business at a city hotel.
With the theme "Inclusive Investment for Tackling Poverty," this year's conference aims to find a solution to poverty with efficiency and financial sustainability; using market mechanisms through the investment modality of inclusive business. It also aims to channel future business trends for the good of the underprivileged community with lower income to zero income.
This conference will not outline challenges but will focus on: sustainable business solutions to tackling poverty, best practices, new models, innovations, and new mindsets. It aims to establish a connection between corporate and social enterprises.
The very first inclusive business conference was held in Bangladesh in 2016 with the joint effort of: SNV, UNDP, BFP, and BCTA.
From 2018 onwards, SNV, in collaboration with the DBCCI, has organised the conference every year. SNV intends to continue this initiative for greater stakeholder engagement this year as well.
Begum Monnujan Sufian, state minister for Ministry of Labour and Employment, will join the inaugural session as the chief guest, while Abdus Salam, secretary to ministry of labour and employment, will attend the programme as its special guest.
