International Business Forum holds seminar on food safety
International Business Forum of Bangladesh organised a seminar styled "Safe food for all: a commitment towards developed Bangladesh" at the Krishibid Institution in the capital on Saturday, said a press release.
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder addressed the seminar as the chief guest.
In the seminar, Dr Ataur Rahman Miton, general secretary of Basafe Foundation and country director of Huger Free Bangladesh presented the keynote paper.
Sadhan Chandra said many businesses in the country are there who unfairly produce low-quality and adulterated food those are very harmful to human health. But they make illusive advertisements to lure customers. So, it is more important to grow honest and safe human to ensure safe foods.
He also emphasised on raising a social movement to halt the food adulteration.
Ataur Rahman said, ensuring food safety and nutritional foods are related to the livelihood development. It does not mean the production of adequate amount of food only, rather it also requires ensuring food value and nutrition.
In order to ensure safe and nutritious food, it is important to take initiatives to ensure smooth value chains along with consumer awareness, he added.
