Webinar on being scientific researchers held in city
The participants had a virtual tour at the Department of Neurological Surgery of Northwestern University Feinberg
To encourage youths who want to be scientific professionals, the EMK Centre, in association with the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and The Business Standard, organised a webinar titled "What makes a good scientific researcher? Traits of Good Scientists of the Future" on September 13.
The webinar is as part of the month-long campaign "Future of Work Post Covid-19: Building a Sustainable Post-Pandemic Future for the Youth", says a press release.
Around 250 participants participated in the webinar and got an opportunity to have a virtual tour at the Department of Neurological Surgery of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, USA.
Two renowned experts having PhD from the USA – Dr Taher Saif and Dr Atique U Ahmed – discussed the overall procedure of researching in the United States and shared their journeys with the participants.
Dr Taher Saif, a professor at the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is currently working on cancer tumour microenvironment, mechanics of neurons and cardiac cells, development of biological machines and materials, and electro-thermo-mechanical behaviour of nanoscale metals and semiconductors.
Atique U Ahmed, an associate professor at the Department of Neurological Surgery, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, USA, is an expert in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Stem Cell Biology, Gene Therapy, and Biomedical Engineering.
The programme was moderated by Asif Uddin Ahmed, an assistant professor at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and also the acting director of EMK Centre.
