Prova: ‘Patience, confidence and faith - that is what kept me going’
‘The good and the bad have gone side by side,’ says Prova of her 12 years in showbiz
At first, actress and model Sadia Jahan Prova was reluctant to be interviewed, saying she was very upset with journalists. She claimed some journalists had published news without talking to her and made up false stories.
However, she later changed her mind and agreed to speak, subject to the condition that she could avoid replying to any question she did not wish to answer.
In a conversation with The Business Standard (TBS), the actress talked about returning to her career after a period of struggle.
Prova has been in the showbiz industry since 2006. She had some outstanding performances in several TV dramas and serials. Then she took a break for two years for personal reasons. Altogether, she has spent 12 years in showbiz. She has faced many ups and downs and now she is taking steps very carefully.
So how does it feel complete 12 years in showbiz? "The good and the bad have existed side by side. I never worked with the idea that I have to survive in this industry come what may. I liked it here so I stayed. That is how I plan to continue in the future as well," Prova said.
Like everyone else, Prova's life and career has not been easy. At one point, she faced a situation in her life for which she was not responsible.
Prova said, "I am not responsible for what happened to me about 10 years ago! I faced trouble because of someone's dishonesty. I suffered. However, I have been able to manage everything and that is my big achievement."
We asked Prova to tell us the story of how she bounced back.
"After such incidents, girls usually take bad decisions like committing suicide or leaving the country. I did not do this, instead I have been trying to live a healthy and beautiful life. I got married, but that relationship ended," Prova said.
Recalling that time, she said, "My family, my parents, brother, two cousins, and one of my friends helped me the most at that time. They kept me sane during that difficult time. They convinced me that this life belonged to me. What happened was not my responsibility."
Apparently, Prova's ex-husband Shanto played a role in her returning as an artist.
"At present, I have no relationship with him, but I can say that he contributed to my return to work."
"But during that difficult time, I maintained three things. First, patience. Secondly, confidence and third, full faith in the Creator," Prova further said.
She continued, "Many co-artists were reluctant to work with me after the incident. They avoided me. There were even times when they withdrew from a project the night before the shoot."
"These events have taught me to be stronger. Also, some people gave me strength. In particular, Subarna Mustafa Apa, producer Ali Bashir and his wife, asked me to be patient," Prova shared.
"They would say, 'the bad times will disappear soon, just remember, you must try to forget the behavior of these people when things turn around,'" she said.
Ali Bashar's support was not just restricted to words, in fact, when one actor refused to work with Prova in a tv drama, he dropped the actor instead of Prova.
"Three to four years later, that actor worked in another drama with me," she said.
"I like a very peaceful life, I always try to keep myself happy," she added.
Prova said she has made mistakes in her life.
"I tried to stay in relationships by making a lot of concessions. But I couldn't. Maybe I was wrong in recognising people. S, now I don't think about love or marriage. I want to enjoy life," Prova said.
