Gold prices fall about Tk2,500 per bhori
Per bhori of 22-carat gold will cost Tk74,008 now; previously it was Tk76,558
Within a week of the price hike, the price of gold has been reduced by around Tk2,500 per bhori.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) has said that the price reduction will be implemented from Thursday.
According to BAJUS, the price of gold in the international market has fallen a bit which resulted in the reduction of gold price in local market.
A press release issued by BAJUS on Thursday said that per bhori (one bhori is equivalent to 0.41 ounces) of 22-carat gold will cost Tk74,008 now; previously it was Tk76,558.
According to the new price, per bhori of 21-carat gold will cost Tk70,859; per bhori of 18-carat gold will cost Tk62,111; and traditional gold will cost Tk51,789 per bhori.
BAJUS has also fixed the minimum wage for making jewelry items. The charge for gold ornaments has been fixed at Tk250 per gram and Tk26 per gram for silver ornaments.
