Next election will be extremely challenging: Tarique Rahman
He urged BNP leaders to remain vigilant, noting that even minor mistakes made in recent months could undermine public trust
The upcoming national election will be one of the most challenging ones in Bangladesh's history, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said today (2 December).
"While the main opposition party might appear weakened, the upcoming election is going to be significantly tougher than previous ones," he said while speaking virtually at BNP's Khulna divisional workshop on "31-Point Structural Reforms of the State and Citizens' Perspectives".
At the event, Tarique Rahman emphasised that times have changed in the last two decades and people are now more conscious than before.
He urged BNP leaders to remain vigilant, noting that even minor mistakes made in recent months could undermine public trust.
"If you think nothing in your area is affecting you, that's a wrong assumption," he said, addressing the partymen.
He went on to say, "If you or your associates have made mistakes, it is your responsibility to correct them and ensure accountability."
He underscored the importance of retaining public support, stating that the BNP's success in achieving its 31-point agenda depends on maintaining the trust and backing of the people at all costs.
Mentioning that the people are the ultimate source of their power, Tarique said, "If we truly believe this, we must act accordingly starting today. Reaching out to the people will be far easier now compared to the 17 years of resilience you have demonstrated in the struggle against dictatorship."
