Uber celebrates 8 years in Bangladesh, empowering over 350,000 drivers
Uber, the leading ridesharing app, marks its 8th anniversary in Bangladesh this November. Since launching in Dhaka in November 2016, Uber has revolutionized the country's transportation landscape, meeting the diverse needs of millions of people.
Over the past eight years, Uber has become an essential part of Bangladesh's mobility ecosystem. The platform has served more than 7.2 million riders and created livelihood opportunities for over 350,000 driver-partners. In its 8 years of operation, Uber's drivers have covered over 122 crore kilometers – a distance equivalent to traveling to the Moon more than 3,000 times!
Uber Bangladesh has facilitated 16.6 crore trips, demonstrating the growing demand for ridesharing services across the nation. Additionally, over 3.5 lakh driver-partners have earned through the platform, contributing to their families and communities.
To celebrate this milestone, Uber Bangladesh has launched the 'Thank You' Campaign. Starting from November 24, Uber initiated a series of appreciation activities for top driver-partners, riders, and hero partners. These include on-trip thank-you tokens to express gratitude to both drivers and riders. For top driver-partners, Uber organized a free all-day health camp to focus on their well-being and provided exclusive lifestyle vouchers for top riders.
Nasheed Ferdous, Country Head, Uber Bangladesh, said, "Over the past eight years, Uber has become an integral part of Bangladesh's mobility ecosystem, connecting millions of riders with drivers who are the backbone of our platform. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to improving mobility and creating meaningful economic opportunities in the communities we serve."
Uber has also been actively collaborating with government bodies such as the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Law Enforcement Agencies, and the BRTA to launch safety initiatives. These efforts, including the Safety Week campaigns, highlight Uber's dedication to promoting road safety and making a positive impact on local communities.
With its young, dynamic population and increasing digital engagement, Bangladesh is one of the most promising ridesharing markets. Uber sees immense opportunities to enhance urban mobility, making transportation safer, smarter, and more efficient for millions across the country.
