Court orders seizure of ex-home minister Kamal's income tax file

A Dhaka court today (12 December) ordered the seizure of the income tax file of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
Acting Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court Md Ibrahim Miah passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam filed the plea before the court, while Public Prosecutor Salauddin Iskander moved the case for the anti-graft body.
On 1 September, the court imposed a travel ban on Kamal, his wife Lutful Tahmina Khan, daughter Safia Tasnim Khan, and seven others.
Five cases were filed against five people, including Kamal, by the ACC on 15 September. The accused were accused of amassing illegal wealth of Tk 79 crore.
Nine bank accounts of the former home minister were frozen after the filing of the cases.
