Southern University announces 50 per cent discount on new student admission fees
Besides, all students will be given financial assistance ranging from 20 percent to 100 percent according to merit in the next semester
Southern University has announced a 50 percent discount on new student admission fees during the Covid period. In addition, the institution has announced a 100 percent waiver of admission fees for students who wish to be admitted to postgraduate courses after graduation from Southern.
Besides, all students will be given financial assistance ranging from 20 percent to 100 percent according to merit in the next semester. The authorities also decided not to charge any delay fee, library fee and enrollment fee during the epidemic.
These decisions were announced at an online meeting chaired by the university's vice-chancellor Prof Md Nurul Mostafa. Entrepreneur and founder of the university Professor Sarwar Jahan, pro vice-chancellor professor M Ali Ashraf, registrar Mozammel Haque and heads of various departments were present at the meeting via video conference.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Nurul Mustafa sought the cooperation of students to carry on the normal activities of the university, and said, "Southern is always student friendly and the students are the most important. The campus has been closed since March 18 due to coronavirus, and the closure has been extended in a few steps. If the situation does not improve, the university is likely to remain closed until September. However, online classes are going on even though campus-based educational activities are closed."
"Besides, all internal activities are also continuing. The university has made arrangements for students to pay tuition fees in easy installments to overcome the financial loss due to the closure of campus-based class activities. So that the university is running and can pay the salaries of teachers, officers and employees, all taxes, electricity, water, gas, internet and other bills. Once the situation becomes normal, the students will be able to pay the fees as per the rules, without having to pay any additional fees," he said.
