8 SIs relieved from Police Academy for breaching discipline
The SIs were earlier served a show-cause notice on Sunday evening for disobeying instructions and shouting loudly in the field
Authorities have relieved eight sub-inspectors (SIs) of their duties over indiscipline during training classes at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Rajshahi's Sarda.
The exemption letters were handed to them last evening (1 January), with verbal instructions to leave the academy by 9:00pm, confirmed Deputy Inspector General Ghulam Rauf Khan, vice principal of the academy.
The SIs were earlier served a show-cause notice on Sunday evening for disobeying instructions and shouting loudly in the field.
They were given three working days to respond, with the notice stating dismissal if their explanations were unsatisfactory.
Previously, the academy issued show cause notices to 313 SIs in three phases due to allegations of misconduct both in the field and during classes. These individuals have already been dismissed from their jobs.
The 40th Cadet SI batch, which underwent training at the academy, had a total of 823 SIs. They started their basic training on 4 November last year.
According to regulations, their training was supposed to conclude on 4 November of this year, and they were scheduled to join various police units.
