Rickshaw Girl trailer unveiled, releases 24 January
On 12 January, the much-anticipated film 'Rickshaw Girl', directed by Amitabh Reza, released its official trailer alongside the announcement of its theatrical debut on 24 January.
Based on Mitali Perkins' acclaimed novel, the film tells the story of Naima, a young artist who turns to rickshaw pulling to support her family after her father falls ill.
Originally slated for a 2020 release, the film faced delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, as it approaches its debut, excitement is building around this first-ever joint production between the United States and Bangladesh. Starring Novera Rahman in the lead role, the cast also includes Champa, Momena Chowdhury, Naresh Bhuiyan, and Allen Shuvro. Momena Chowdhury and Naresh Bhuiyan portray Naima's parents.
The story highlights Naima's resilience as she navigates poverty and societal challenges while holding onto her dreams. As the trailer dropped, it immediately gained traction on social media, sparking widespread anticipation.
