Chattogram police recovered the burnt body of a woman, approximately 30 years old, from a bush at Fateyabad Balurtal area of Hathazari Upazila in the district yesterday evening (22 January).

Contacted, Kazi Md Tarek Aziz, additional superintendent of police (Hathazari Circle), said, "Police recovered the body upon receiving information from locals. According to our initial assessment, the deceased appears to be a woman around 30 years of age. The body is severely burnt and unrecognisable. One side of the foot has decayed and is infested with maggots."

He further added, "A scarf was found near the body, along with a pair of women's slippers and a gas lighter a short distance away. We are working to identify the victim. The body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for further examination."
Investigations are ongoing to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances of her death, police said.
