Chhatra Dal leader among 306 sued over attack on Sylhet resort
A case has been filed against 306 people over the attack, vandalism and looting at the Regent Park Resort in the Silam area of Dakshin Surma upazila in Sylhet earlier this week.
The resort's Managing Director Helal Ahmed filed the case at Moglabazar Police Station yesterday (23 January), naming six people, including a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader, and accusing 250-300 other unknown individuals.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) Mohammad Saiful Islam confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
According to police sources, Abu Saleh, senior joint general secretary of South Surma upazila Chhatra Dal, is the main accused in the case.
On 19 January, some local people attacked and vandalised the Regent Park Resort.
Also, 12 young men and women, who were staying in different rooms of the resort, were held and later, eight of them were married off by the locals.
