3 bodies recovered in a day in Cumilla
Police recovered three bodies, including a woman, an NGO worker, and an unidentified individual, from three upazilas of Cumilla in a single day.
The bodies were found between yesterday night (26 January) and today morning (27 January) in Sadar Dakshin, Laksam, and Monohargonj upazilas.
According to sources from Sadar Dakshin police station and local residents, a floating body of a man was discovered in a canal beside the Cumilla-Noakhali regional highway.
The body was recovered this morning (27 January) from the Jailkhana Bari area in Sadar Dakshin upazila, confirmed Sadar Dakshin police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Rafiqul Islam to The Business Standard.
He said, "The body was dressed in a jacket and showed no signs of injury or blood. It is suspected that the individual might have died due to epilepsy. However, no conclusions can be drawn without an investigation. The body has been sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for an autopsy."
Meanwhile, the body of a 37-year-old man named Altaf Hossain was recovered from Hotel Dreamland in Laksam Upazila. He was an employee of Pragati Insurance.
Laksam police station OC Nazneen Sultana confirmed the recovery and said, "After recovering the body, we informed his family. They are on their way. We are yet to determine how he arrived here and the cause of his death. An investigation into the matter is ongoing."
In Monohorgonj upazila, the body of a local woman was found beside a road in Banduaion village at 1:30am last night. She was the wife of the late Ayub Ali from the same area.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Imon Hossain of Monohorgonj police station confirmed the incident and said, "The woman lived alone at home, and her body was discovered by locals who later notified the police."
