MBBS admission test: Deadline to turn in verification for freedom fighters' children quota extended till Sunday
A total of 49 candidates, who passed the medical entry test this year under the freedom fighters' children quota, did not submit their verification today (30 January).
The candidates selected under the quota had been instructed to appear with verification on 27-29 January. As 49 of them did not submit their documents, the deadline has been extended till Sunday (2 February).
According to a notice, signed by Professor Rubina Yasmin, additional director general (medical education) at the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), "If the students fail to submit their documents within the given time, their results may get cancelled."
The verification process for the 2024-25 academic session of the country's public and private medical colleges concluded on Wednesday.
A meeting of the admission committee on Sunday will make the final decision regarding these candidates, the notice also mentioned.
Results of 193 medical entry test candidates put on hold
Earlier on 20 January, the DGME put on hold the results of 193 candidates selected under the quota for this year's session, pending further verification.
Of the 193 candidates whose results were put on hold for further scrutiny, 144 appeared for the verification by the DGME.
This year, 1,35,665 students applied to sit the MBBS admission test. A total of 1,31,729 candidates participated in the exam, of whom 60,095 passed. The passing mark for the exam was 40.
The decision for scrutiny came after the medical entry test results were published, sparking protests as some secured seats under the quota with just 41 marks, while many with 70 marks did not secure medical seats.
