4 of a family, including seven-year-old, killed in truck-car collision in Sylhet

Four members of a family, including a seven-year-old, were killed when a truck rammed into a private car on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet today (2 February).
The deceased were identified as Ety Begum, 35, her son Ayan, 7, her cousins Sohel, 40, driver of the car, and Shamima, 40.
"The accident occurred around 7:30am at the Unish Mile area when a Dhaka-bound truck collided with a Sylhet-bound car. Two died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital," Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Highway Police Station, Abu Taher Dewan told the Business Standard.
"Two others were injured in the accident. The truck driver and his helper have fled the scene. A case has been registered in connection with the incident," the OC added.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Osmaninagar-Bishwanath Circle) Ashrafuzzaman believes that the accident might have occurred due to dense fog in the morning.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at the morgue of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and the truck has been seized, he said.
