Drones banned within 2km of Ijtema ground
Police have imposed a ban on flying any type of drone within two kilometres of Bishwa Ijtema ground and its surrounding areas in Tongi without the permission of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP).
A public notice, signed by GMP Commissioner Nazmul Karim Khan, was issued in this regard today (2 February).
The notice states, "In the interest of the safety of the devotees and maintaining overall law and order, it is requested not to fly drones, drone cameras or any other electronic devices within two kilometres of Bishwa Ijtema grounds and its surrounding areas without the permission of the Special Branch of Gazipur Metropolitan Police from 2 to 18 February."
Appropriate legal action will be taken against those who violate this order, it adds.
Earlier today, at least 50 devotees participating in the first phase of Bishwa Ijtema were injured when they tried to leave the area in a rush after a drone crashed on the road near Kamarpara during the Akheri Munajat and created mass panic.
