An Ansarullah Bangla Team member detained
During the interrogation, he admitted he was an active member of the banned military group
A team of Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Bangladesh Police arrested Md Sabuj Sheikh, 26, an active member of the banned militant group Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from Sultanbagh in Tarab area under Rupganj Police Station in Narayanganj at 12.30 pm on Sunday.
Sabuj Sheikh, son of Md Mostafa Sheikh and mother Sufia Begum, hails from Lakshandia village under Shaltha Police Station in Faridpur.
The police have seized a mobile phone used in militant activities from him. During interrogation, he admitted he was an active ATB member.
Md Sabuj used to invite and train ATB activities online using his Facebook ID called "Sotter Shandhane".
He was carrying out militant propaganda in "Lone Wolf Mujahideen" group, endangering public security, creating terror and preparing for jihad.
The filing of a case is under process against Sabuj Sheikh under Section 8/9/10/13 of Anti-Terrorism Act 2009 (Amendment-2013) at Narayanganj's Rupganj Police Station for being a member of and supporting the banned militant organisation ABT, conspiracy to commit crimes and incitement to terrorist activities.
