Kalabagan Krira Chakra president placed on 10-day remand
A Dhaka court today placed Kalabagan Krira Chakra President Shafiqul Alam Firoz on 10-day remand in two cases filed for possessing illegal arms and drugs.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akhter granted the remand when he was produced before the court with 20-day remand plea, said General Recording Officer and Sub-Inspector Md Nizamuddin.
On September 20, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Firoz in a raid at the club in Dhaka's Dhanmandi as part of the government's drive against illegal casinos. Gambling chips, foreign pistols, 572 packets of playing cards, yellow yaba tablets and other casino material were also confiscated during the drive. Later, members of RAB-2 taken Shafiqul Alam Firoz took into custody for questioning.
The elite force RAB filed two cases against the club president with Dhanmondi police station - one under the Arms Act and another under the Narcotics Control Act Saturday morning. Inspector of RAB-2 Mohammed Abdul Hamid Khan filed those cases.
Shafiqul Alam Firoz is a member of Krishak League's central committee and senior vice-president of Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA).
