Rohingya couple killed in ‘gunfight’
They were detained from the camp with a light gun on Saturday night.
An alleged Rohingya robber and his wife were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Leda Rohingya camp in Teknaf early Sunday.
The deceased are Dill Mohammad, 32, and his wife Jaheda Begum, 27, of the camp under Nhila union in the upazila, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
Police claimed that Dill was a 'notorious robber' and his wife was his accomplice.

They were detained from the camp with a light gun on Saturday night.
Based on their information that there were more arms in possession of their aide Shofiullah Shafi in the camp, police conducted a drive there three hours later.
That time the 'robbers' at the camp opened fire at the law enforcers, ensuing the gunfight.
Though the 'criminals' managed to flee the scene, Dil and Jaheda got injured.
They were rushed to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor suggested the police to take them to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
Later, the couple were declared dead at the Sadar Hospital, said Pradip.
Assistant Sub-inspector Nizam and two constables namely Shahadat and Sudorshon were also injured during the clash, said the OC.
They were released from the hospital after taking primary treatments, said Titu Chandra Shill, emergency medical officer at the upazila health complex.
However, two light guns, a three quarter gun and eight rounds of Kartuz were recovered from the camp, said police.
