BGB deployed at Hathazari Madrasa ahead of Shafi’s janaza
Also, seven magistrates are on the scene
Along with RAB, police and Ansar members, 10 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed to control the crowd at Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh's chief Shah Ahmad Shafi's namaz-e-janaza at Chattogram Hathazari Madrasa grounds, which is scheduled to take place at 2pm today.
District Magistrate Yasmin Parvin Tirbiji said, "Situation is okay here for now. But many people will come to the janaza. RAB, police, Ansar and 10 platoons BGB have been deployed. Also, seven magistrates are on the scene."
Shah Ahmad Shafi, the long-serving director general of Hathazari Madrasa, passed away on Friday evening at Asgar Ali Hospital in Dhaka.
Ahmed Shafi's body was brought back to Hathazari Madrasa last night from Dhaka.
From Fajr prayers, his body is being kept in the class room of Hathazari Madrasa so that the students can see him for last time till Zuhr prayers.
His namaz-e-janaza is going to be held at 2pm Saturday at Hathazari Madrasa ground. His son Anas Madani will conduct the janaza.
After the janaza there, he will be laid to rest in the graveyard in front of Baitul Atiq Jame Mosque inside the Madrasa campus on Saturday afternoon.
