Nusrat murder case verdict on October 24
Women and Child Repression Prevention court judge Mamun Hossain passed the order on Monday
A Feni court has fixed October 24 as the date to deliver the verdict on the murder case of Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
Women and Child Repression Prevention court judge Mamun Hossain passed the order on Monday.
"Among the 16 accused in the case, 15 were produced before the court on Monday. Accused Kamrun Nahar Moni delivered her daughter while she was detained, so she was not produced before the court," said Public Prosecutor Hafiz Ahmed.
Meanwhile, the plaintiff's lawyer M Shahjahan Shaju said, "The court started recording the deposition of Nusrat's older brother Mahmudul Hasan Noman on June 27. A total 92 witnesses, including Nusrats's mother Shirin Akter, father Mawlana AKM Musa and brother Rashedul Hasan Rayhan gave their depositions so far."
According to the case details, SM Siraj Ud Daula, principal of Feni's Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, sexually harassed Alim examinee Nusrat in his office on March 27.
The student's mother then filed a case in this connection the next day.
On April 6, Nusrat was set ablaze as she refused to withdraw the case.
A group of people loyal to the principal set her on fire on the rooftop of the madrasa's administration building just before she could sit for the Alim examinations, which is equivalent to the Higher Secondary Certificate exam.
She succumbed to her burn injuries at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.
