Writ challenging Wasa MD reappointment rejected
The High Court rejects the writ petition saying it was “not placed” before the court
The High Court rejected a writ petition that challenged the sixth time reappointment of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) Managing Director Engineer Taqsem A Khan for the next three years.
The bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam passed the order Sunday, saying that it was "not placed" before the court.
Supreme Court Bar Association General Secretary Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajal with his associate Advocated Tanvir Ahmed moved for the petition, while Deputy Attorney General Nur-Us Sadik represented the state in the court.

Writ petitioner's lawyer Advocated Tanvir Ahmed told the press that they would file a fresh petition with another HC bench if his client wants.
The HC set Sunday for the ruling after concluding the hearing on the writ on 14 October. Earlier on 24 September, Tanvir filed the writ on behalf of former additional chief engineer of the Bangladesh Water Development Board Khandaker Manzur Murshid.
The writ petition was filed challenging the validity of the process to extend the term of Taqsem A Khan for the sixth time after serving as the MD of Dhaka Wasa for 11 consecutive years.
Authorities concerned including the local government secretary were made respondents to the writ.
On September 19, Wasa board recommended to send a proposal to the ministry to extend the tenure of Taqsem A Khan as MD of Dhaka Wasa for another three years. On 1 October, the government approved his reappointment.
Taqsem A Khan was first appointed as the MD of Dhaka Wasa in 2009. His term was then extended in four phases. His fifth term ended on October 14.
