Faruk Chowdhury's luck by chance
It was all about failures until Omar Faruk Chowdhury joined Jubo League.
He had to go through a bad patch both in politics and business. Nothing was going right for him.
He joined different parties like Biri Sramik League, Jatiya Party Jubo Sangathan and Awami League. But success did not come his way. He remained on the side-line for a long time.
It was Jubo League that took him to the peak of success. After becoming the chairman of the youth front of the Awami League, Faruk Chowdury recouped what he lost in old days.
Many consider what Faruk has today is just by chance. He has been enjoying a luxurious life but he has no visible business.
In 2003, Omar Faruk Chowdhury became the presidium member of the Jubo League committee.
Before that, he was the executive committee member of the youth front of the Awami League.
Later, he became the acting chairman of the party in 2009. And since 2012, Omar Faruk has been performing his duty as the Jubo League chairman.
Whatever this so-called political bigwig has decided regarding Jubo League has been considered final since he assumed the party's top position.
A common allegation from many of his party leaders and activists is that they hardly get an opportunity to directly contact the party chairman.
Indeed, the politician is very lucky that he is the leader of the youth front even at his 70s. There is no such previous record of holding this top position after the age of 50.
According to the National Youth Policy, citizens of Bangladesh aged 18-35 years are regarded as youth.
In 1972, Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni established Jubo League at the age of 32.
