Suspect held with 2,280 yaba tablets at Shahjalal airport
The seized yaba tablets are worth around Tk11 lakh
The Airport Armed Police on Thursday detained a man with 2,280 yaba tablets at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The suspect Shakil Mia, 25, is a resident of Khilkhet area in the capital.
According to the source concerned, Shakil landed at the airport from a US Bangla Airlines flight arriving from Cox's Bazar around 6pm.
Police interrogated Shakil after noticing his suspicious movement and he confessed to carrying yaba tablets inside his stomach.
Police then managed to remove the yaba tablets worth around Tk11 lakh from his stomach.
Quoting Shakil, Additional Superintendent of Police of the Airport Armed Police Alamgir Hossain said the suspect collected the yaba tablets from a person named Abir in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf area, with funding from another person named Parvez.
A case was filed against Shakil under the Narcotics Control Act with the Airport Police Station.
