4 Hizb ut-Tahrir members held in Dhaka
They were reportedly conducting publicity for the banned militant organisation by distributing leaflets and posters, and planning to commit sabotage against the country
An Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) team, in a drive, arrested four active members of the banned militant organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir from Dhaka's Dakshinkhan area early Wednesday.
The arrestees are – Md Jahirul Islam, 32, from Bhola; Md Rashidul Islam Hridoy, 23, from Patuakhali; Al Mahmud, 25, from Rajshahi; and Md Muzahidin, 18, also from Rajshahi.
Of them, Mahmud was assigned to Dhaka city and the Southern part of Gazipur city, read a press release issued by the ATU.
The team also seized 10 mobile phones, one central processing unit (CPU), and a huge amount of printed and online content and books related to extremism from them.
The arrestees had been conducting publicity for Hizb ut-Tahrir by distributing leaflets and posters, and planning to commit sabotage against the country, the release read.
A case has been filed against them with the Dakshinkhan police station in this connection.
