Dresses are not just mere attires anymore. Be it a regular wear or something for special occasions, comfort and trend come hand in hand.
These days, each one of us is eager to find something colorful and fashionable to wear which is why designer wears are becoming more and more popular every day.
That one dress, which will make us stand from the crowd, is something we long for.
Irises Designer Studio is one such place for dresses and various fashion items for women. In this boutique, clothes made of cotton, silk and muslin with trendy block and screen prints are fabricated.
Natasha Hayat, owner, designer and executive partner of Irises talked about the store's journey and how it is currently doing.
She completed her graduation from North South University. However, as she did not study fashion designing, she feels more comfortable to be known as a businessperson rather than a fashion designer.
When her friends and family members suggested that designing can be her hobby, Natasha gave it a try as she had been deeply in love with this for a long time.
"I borrowed Tk20,000 from my mother and made 20 dresses with it. My friends arranged a small exhibition in our living room. Everyone liked the dresses a lot and all the dresses were sold out," recalled Natasha.
After working for almost a decade in the corporate world, Natasha finally stepped into the world of fashion in 2013 along with her partner Rokhsana Aftab who is Irises's Managing Director.
A nostalgic Natasha smiled, "We started quite plainly. In the beginning we had only 1 tailor, 1 embroidery worker and another to do the block works." Now Irises Designer Boutique holds almost 50 staffs.
Natasha's initiative was a different one, as she wanted to revive the lost days of blocks and screen prints.
"When I noticed that foreign products had infiltrated the market, I knew right away that I had to do something about it", she said.
Natasha added, "Standing against intense competition, we always tried to attract customers through the quality of our products. And it worked incredibly well!"
The brand's main concern is providing comfort to its customers so Irises caters to customers of all age groups.
They have two outlets in Dhaka, one in Banani and the other in Green road where Natasha and her team works on a tight schedule to create beautiful clothes.
They have designer silk and cotton kurtis, salwar kameezes, scarves, pants along with sarees. One exclusive range includes golden foil works that look stunning. From neons to pales, the clothes come in a variety of colors.
Price of a kurti starts from Tk3000 where as block printed and screen printed salwar kameez is priced between Tk3000- Tk3500. The pants are priced from Tk1200 and sarees have a price range between Tk3500 and Tk15000.
Beside this, there designer jewelries which are also getting popularity. The Banani showroom also has handcrafted footwear from Fizzy Goblet.
Not only clothing and fashion wears, this shop is ready to give your home a fashionable look with their beautifully designed cushion covers, bed sheets, quilts and more.
"We try to make each and every product with the same attention and care," said Natasha.
The main preference of Irises Designer Studio is to maintain their quality and come up with more unique works.
