ACC launches inquiry against Lt Gen (Retd) Hasan Sarwardi
The ACC decided this after initial scrutiny of a complaint against him
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an inquiry against Lieutenant General (retired) Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardi, Bir Bikram.
The agency recently decided to investigate him, and the decision was taken after initial scrutiny of a complaint received by the commission.
According to the allegation, during his tenure as the director general of Ansar, he acquired illegal money through: the abuse of power, fraud, forgery, various irregularities, and corruption. Also, he laundered money and bought properties and flats in the names of his wife and children.
The ACC's special investigation division has been asked to take immediate action against the former army officer.
On 10 April, the army declared Lieutenant General (retired) Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardi, Bir Bikram, persona non grata in the cantonment, and areas covered by it, after the authorities noticed he had spread lies about the army on social media platforms.
