New 'Star Wars: The High Republic' novel set for 2021
Lucasfilm has announced the first book in the second wave of releases from Star Wars: The High Republic, the property set centuries before the events of the Star Wars movie series that spans prose, comics and other publishing projects. Star Wars: The High Republic — The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott, will be released in summer 2021, reports Hollywood Reporter.
The Rising Storm, the second High Republic adult novel following January's Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule, will continue the storyline from the first wave, as the Jedi have to deal with the growing threat of the anarchistic criminal tribe known as the Nihil.
"The Rising Storm sees the Nihil taking their reign of terror to the next level, building on their appearances in Light of the Jedi and beyond," Scott told StarWars.com, where news of the new title was first announced.
Yorrick — described by Scott as "a Force-sensitive monster hunter with a mysterious past" — underscores one of the selling points for The High Republic; unlike almost every other incarnation of Star Wars since Lucasfilm was purchased by Disney, it's a story setting in which the Jedi and other Force users are numerous, and well-established across the galaxy, as opposed to the singular, special figures of other Star Wars properties.
Star Wars: The High Republic — The Rising Storm will be released July 6, 2021.
