BATB wins 1st prize in President’s Award for Industrial Development 2018
BAT Bangladesh has earned the distinction of being the first prize winner of the prestigious President's Award for Industrial Development 2018 under large manufacturing category.
The award giving ceremony was held on Monday. President Abdul Hamid was virtually present during the handover of the awards, given under six categories, for notable contributions towards the national economy, said a press release.
Mubina Asaf, head of Legal and External Affairs of BATB received the award from Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on the occasion.
She thanked the government and the Ministry of Industries in particular for recognizing BAT Bangladesh through such a prestigious award.
Mubina Asaf said, "This award is a true testament to BAT Bangladesh's continuous drive for excellence in making a significant contribution to the country's industrial development."
She also said human capital is the most valuable asset and BAT Bangladesh is relentlessly working towards building skilled human resources.
"We have been emphasizing on skill development training for our employees alongside technological investments for the past 10 years. BAT Bangladesh is currently managing its overall operational and business activities with domestic talents," she added.
Out of 1,500, BATB has only three foreigners working in Bangladesh. In addition, more than 50 talents from BAT Bangladesh, are now working in different countries across the globe. It's a matter of great pride that not only the officers, but also the machine operators of our factory, are now working as trainers in countries like- Singapore, Poland, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, on a regular basis, she mentioned.
"I believe, there is a lot of opportunity to develop human resources as skilled manpower. In BAT Bangladesh, we are committed to continue our efforts to play a vital role in the development of skilled manpower in this country," the legal and external affairs chief added.
On the occasion, Sheikh Fazle Fahim, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder were present as special guests, while Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam presided over the event.
