2 JMB members detained in Brahmanbaria
The duo said they joined JMB because they were motivated by jihad
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained two members of the banned militant outlet Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), in Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila.
They are Md Yeahia, 22 and Md Huzaifa Saad, 20, hailing from Shahbazpur of the district.
After being tipped-off, members of law enforcement – led by Bhairab Camp's Company Commander Rafiuddin Mohammad Zubair and Squad Commander Mohammad Belaet Hossain – conducted a drive in Uttarpara area of Shahbazpur and detained them, according to a press release by Rab 14 Bhairab Camp.
Two books on extremism, two photocopies of such books, four leaflets, two mobile phones, and some other documents were seized during the drive.
The duo admitted before Rab, during an initial interrogation, that they became supporters of JMB because they were motivated by jihad.
Squad Commander Belaet Hossain said the duo have been under observation for the last five months.
They held a secret meeting at a local mosque last night, said Belaet, adding that a case has been filed against them at Sarail Police Station.
