178 BNP men granted bail over arson attacks on buses
At least nine cases were filed accusing more than 400 people over the arson attacks on the same day
The High Court has granted bail to 178 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in separate cases over the arson attacks on buses in the capital.
The High Court bench of Justices Md Habibul Gani and Md Riaz Uddin Khan passed the order on Wednesday after hearing the bail plea.
Barrister Kaiser Kamal, BNP's legal affairs secretary, confirmed the matter to the media in this regard, reports Jagonews.
On 12 November, last year, nine buses, including two vehicles used for carrying government staff, were set on fire. All the arson incidents took place between 1:30pm and 2:30pm on the day.
According to police, at least nine cases were filed accusing more than 400 people over the arson attacks on the same day. Police arrested several people over the incidents.
On the next day, a Dhaka court granted remand for 28 people in separate cases filed with different police stations over the attacks
