Mindhunter: Minds of the cunning

The second season of Netflix's popular series 'Mindhunter' was released on August 16 of this year, something its fans were eagerly waiting for.

Adapted from the book 'Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's elite serial crime unit' written by John E Douglas and Mark Olshaker, directors such as David Fincher, Carl Franklin and Andrew Dominik was behind creating the second season.

With an IMDB rating of 8.6, the mind-blowing creation of Joe Penhall is a must-watch for those who are enthralled by the mysterious ways the human mind works in.

Set in 70's America, the series stars Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany as two FBI agents, Holden Ford and Bill Tench. Their research works open several dimensions as they go deeper and deeper into the dangerous criminal minds.

Ford and Bill start interviewing the deadliest psychopaths to know about their behaviors and through this, they make a probable database that they can use for future reference.

The main attraction of this season is the recurring presence of the 'co-ed killer', Edmund Kemper, the necrophile who murders 10 people including his own mother and grandparents.

However, some events also go out of proportion. The frequent and puzzling dimensions of the human mind keeps changing its route that makes the study more complex for the FBI agents.

The series also focuses on how sexual dissatisfaction and problematic upbringings can contribute to making heinous criminals and how by nurturing the ideas of deprivation, playing the victim role of the situation, these criminals torture and kill people, mostly women and children in different ways.

In the second season, the heroes continue with their research work. Here they face several challenges in their professional and personal life. While solving crimes, they also face some traumas of their own.

Netflix has many series with similar story lines but 'Mindhunter' stands out as one of the most intriguing ones by constantly drawing the audience's attention who cannot wait for season 3.
