Inmate who escaped from Chattogram jail held in Narsingdi

Police have arrested the man, who escaped from Chattogram Central Jail three days ago, from Baliakandi Char in Raipur Upazila of Narsingdi on Tuesday.
Md Nezam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Chattogram Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the matter, saying they arrested the man with help of Narsingdi police.
Farhad Hossain Rubel, a murder case convict, went missing from the punishment ward of the Chattogram jail on Saturday. The prison authorities sensed the matter during their regular counting of the day.
OC Nezam said they in collaboration with Narsingdi police conducted a drive in the char area and arrested Rubel in the morning,
He was being taken to Chattogram, added the OC.
On 5 February, Rubel stabbed one Abul Kalam, a businessman of Chattogram, over a trivial matter.
The next day, Abul Kalam died at a hospital while undergoing treatment.
Rubel was arrested on 6 February and had been languishing in the jail since then.
However, four officials, including a jailer and a Deputy Jailer, were suspended for negligence of duty, following the missing incident.
Besides, the jail authority filed a case with Kotwali Police Station over the incident.
Two probe bodies were also formed to investigate the matter.
