Women can achieve progress in all sectors: Speaker
Women can achieve remarkable progress in every sector if they build themselves as skilled workforce through acquiring knowledge on different disciplines of development, says Jatiya Sangsad speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.
She came up with the remark while virtually addressing a discussion of the Dhaka Reporters Unity as chief guest, reads a press release.
DRU organised the programme titled 'Women's progress, barriers and challenges in five decades,' marking International Women's Day with its president Morsalin Nomany in the chair.
DRU also honoured six senior women journalists — Mahmuda Chowdhury, Farida Yasmin, Shahnaj Begum, Nadira Kiron, Sharmin Rinvi and Angur Nahar Monty — for their contribution in journalism.
Executive director of Nari Progoti Shongho, Rokeya Kabir, editor of Daily Ittefaq Tasmima Hossain, general secretary of Bangladesh Mohila Parishad Maleka Banu, DRU general secretary Moshiur Rahman Khan, among others, addressed the discussion.
The speaker unveiled the cover of 'Konthossor', a special publication for DRU's women members.
DRU women affairs secretary Rita Nahar presented the keynote paper at the function.
