Probe committee formed over Narayanganj building collapsed
The sixth grader, Iftekhar Ahmed Wazed, remained missing
District administration formed a five-member probe committee on Monday over the building collapsed that killed a 14-year-old boy in Narayanganj.
The committee led by additional district magistrate Rehana Akhter, has been asked to submit investigation report within five working days.
Meanwhile, a sixth grader, Iftekhar Ahmed Wazed, remained missing till this report was filed at 1pm on Monday.
Family members and neighbours of missing Wazed raged their anger and said, "Rescue workers are wasting time in different ways. That's why the missing child cannot be recovered."
Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj fire service Abdullah Al Arefin said, "Eight units of Fire Service and Civil Defence and divers are still conducting the rescue work. It will go on until finding the missing boy."
Shoeb Akter died after the four-storey building collapsed at Tatipara area of Narayanganj. Four people sustained injuries in the mishap.
Iftekhar's father Jahirul Islam Rubel said his son went to a ground floor apartment of the building to learn Arabic. The building collapsed suddenly and six persons got trapped inside.
Locals began the rescue soon after the breakdown, Rubel added.
Rajib Ahmed, a tenant of an adjacent building, took part in the rescue. He said the building collapsed all of a sudden around 4:15pm on Sunday afternoon.
Rajib said they rescued five persons including Shoeb. Later Shoeb was declared dead after being taken to the Narayanganj General Hospital.
