Protestors stage solidarity rally at JU
The protesting students have refused to abide by and vowed to continue their movement demanding resignation of the VC
Teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University are staging a solidarity rally in protest against the institution's decision of students having to vacate the residential halls.
The agitating students have denied entrance to officials of the Registrar office into the university premises as part of the demonstration in the morning.
Around 30 teachers, including Anu Mohammad, and more than 300 students are staging the rally in front of the old administrative building of the university.
Earlier, authorities closed Jahangirnagar University for an indefinite period after the ruling party's student wing Chhatra League attacked the protesting teachers and students today, leaving at least 20 injured.
The students were asked to leave the dormitories by 5:30pm on the day, many of them left the dormitories. Meanwhile, authorities have given verbal permission to the students, who could not leave the halls, to vacate the dormitories by 10am tomorrow.
However, the protesters have refused to abide by and vowed to continue their movement demanding resignation of the VC.
