Students forced to leave JU halls
However, some 50 protestors have vowed continue their protest
All the students of Jahangirnagar University have left the dormitories today afternoon following Tuesday's order of the authorities, issued after shutting down the university amid protest.
However, some 50 protestors have vowed to continue their protest demanding resignation of the Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam. But, they will not stay at the halls.
"We will continue the protest daily on the campus to press our demands," said Rayhan Rayne, Professor of Philosophy Department of the university, also the convener of the movement under the banner of "Durnitir Biruddhe Jahangirnagar".

The protest started after VC Farzana Islam allegedly took out Tk 1.6 crore from the university projects fund for the leaders of Jahangirnagar University Chhatra League. Three of the leaders confessed to receiving money from her.
The authorities closed down the university for an indefinite period on November 5 after the ruling party's student wing attacked the protesting teachers and students, leaving at least 20 injured.
The students were asked to leave the dormitories by 5:30pm which the protesters had refused to abide by and vowed to continue their movement on the day. After that, the administration gave several deadlines to leave the hall.
Earlier today, JU provost committee President Bashir Ahmed said, "We have decided to ask police to vacate the halls today as protestors are still staying at the dormitories and staging protest on the campus."
