Mirpur, Rangpur zoo closed indefinitely
The government has decided to close the National Zoo, located in the capital's Mirpur area and Rangpur Zoo to curb the Covid-19 infection.
The Fisheries and Livestock ministry on Friday issued a notice in this regard.
"The Bangladesh National Zoo in Mirpur and Rangpur Zoo will remain closed for visitors from today until further notice to prevent coronavirus infection," read the notice.
Earlier, the government had instructed local authorities to shut down all tourists spots in Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar and other notable places of the country to prevent the infection spread.
Bangladesh recorded its highest ever daily cases on Thursday, nearly 6,500 – from only 3 cases on the first detection of 8 March last year – and the highest single day deaths, 59, in months.
