Chhatra League man beats visually impaired student at Chittagong University
Shukkur is being treated at university's medical centre
An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) unit of Chittagong University allegedly beat up a visually impaired student on the campus last night.
Rifat, an activist of Chhatra League's Bijoy group, abused Shukkur Alam, a student of Philosophy Department of the university, verbally when shukkur went to buy bread at a nearby shop. Shukkur protested the harassment immediately.
Rifat swooped on Sukkur and beat him up near Suhrawardy Hall. Rifat also hit Sukkhur's eyes. He had an eye operation some days ago.
His classmates rushed Shukkur to the university medical centre. He is being treated there currently.
The leaders and activists of Pratibandhi Chhatra Samaj of the university staged demonstrations protesting the incident.
"We will submit written complaint to the university administration today, and will continue our protest until Rifat is arrested," said Abdur Razzak, general secretary of Pratibandhi Chhatra Samaj.
"We will take action after Shukkur submits the complaint," said Pranab Mitra, acting proctor of the university.
